Back in 2012 I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Erik and Melissa Cates. For their engagement photos, they trusted me on an adventure to a rundown house in the woods that my dad had seen earlier in the week. They were excited to try something new and the place looked so cool, until we heard some sort of animal inside. Needless to say Erik jumped down, ran over and helped Melissa as we all ran out of the woods and went on to another, more civilized location. The two of them laughed with me about the incident and we went on to create some sweet images, they didn’t miss a beat.

Their wedding day was perfect; Melissa was a good mix of collected calm but also very organized so that there was nothing to stress about, she had it all covered. Erik was relaxed and laid back, excited to marry Melissa. These two were so very sweet, as most couples are on their wedding day, but i can honestly say that as I have continued to photograph their family over the last ten years they have remained the sweet, down to earth, couple that they were back at their engagement photos. It has sincerely been a blessing to me to document thier lives, their three beautiful children, and what wonderful parents they are. They make a wonderful team and I’m so excited to see all that their future holds!
